Use this checklist before mailing a Segway or Ninebot KickScooter to Atravesar. Many dashboard errors have a simple owner fix; others need controller, motor, battery, or harness work that belongs on a service bench.
Safety first
- Power off and unplug the charger before inspecting connectors.
- Do not open the battery pack or puncture cells.
- Use only the original charger — third-party chargers are a common cause of overvoltage faults.
- If the battery is swollen, hot, or smells unusual, stop and email us before shipping.
Common dashboard error themes
Exact numbering can vary by model family, but these themes appear repeatedly on Ninebot KickScooters:
- Dashboard / controller communication — reseat the dashboard harness; inspect for bent pins.
- Throttle Hall fault — confirm the throttle springs fully to neutral; free a sticky throttle before replacing it.
- Brake lever Hall fault — confirm the lever returns fully; inspect wiring.
- Motor Hall / motor blocked — reseat the motor connector; remove debris locking the wheel.
- Battery communication or temperature — charge only in a moderate ambient range; reseat battery-to-controller cables; swollen packs need service replacement.
- Controller overvoltage / overcurrent — rest, restart, confirm payload and charger authenticity.
Problems without a clear code
Will not charge
Test the charger alone (expect a ready LED when plugged into the wall only). Inspect the charge port for debris. Cold batteries may refuse charge until they warm indoors.
Will not power on
Try powering while on the charger. If it only wakes while charging, the power button or dashboard assembly is a suspect. Otherwise reseat the dashboard cable.
No acceleration or speed limited
Confirm the scooter is unlocked in the app, not in a beginner limit mode, and above a low battery state. Sticky throttles and motor connection faults are next checks.
Short range
Cold weather, hills, heavy load, high speed, and low tire pressure all cut range. Mechanical inspection still matters if range collapsed suddenly after an impact or water exposure.
What to record for our technicians
- Exact error number and beep pattern
- Whether the fault appears only when riding, charging, or both
- Recent crashes, water exposure, or third-party charger use
- Photos of the dashboard and any damaged cables
Next step
If owner checks fail, email info@atravesar.ca before shipping — scooters need specific packing and battery transport guidance. Related pages: Segway support hub, mail-in process.
