How Mail-In Repair Works at Atravesar

Step-by-step guide to shipping a device for repair: what to include, how packaging should look, diagnostics and quotes, turnaround expectations, and return shipping.

This guide walks through a typical consumer mail-in repair with Atravesar Services. Follow it so your package arrives complete, undamaged, and ready for diagnostics.

1. Start with an email

Write to info@atravesar.ca and include:

  • Brand and exact model name
  • Serial number if you can find it
  • A clear description of the symptom (and error text if any)
  • Whether the product may still be under warranty
  • Your city and preferred contact email

We reply with next steps and, when appropriate, the shipping address and packing notes for our Richmond Hill facility.

2. Prepare the device

  • Back up personal data where relevant.
  • Remove SIM cards, memory cards, and unrelated accessories.
  • For robot vacuums: empty dustbins and water tanks; wipe moisture; remove loose mop pads that could leak.
  • For scooters: power off; do not ship a damaged or swollen battery without our guidance.
  • Include only the accessories we request (dock, charger, or specific parts).

3. Pack for transit

Use a rigid carton with at least 5 cm of cushioning on all sides. Immobilize the product so it cannot rattle. Place small parts in labelled bags. Put a paper note inside with your name, email, phone, and the symptom summary. Seal the carton thoroughly and photograph it before handing it to the carrier.

4. Ship and keep tracking

Use a tracked service. Keep the receipt and tracking number until the device is returned. Insurance is recommended for higher-value products.

5. Diagnostics and quote

After receiving and identifying your unit, we run diagnostics against the reported symptom. You receive a written quote for the recommended repair path. No billable repair proceeds without your approval on out-of-warranty work (warranty jobs follow the applicable brand process).

6. Repair, test, and return

Approved work is completed on the bench, then functionally tested. We pack the device and ship it back to you with tracking when available.

Typical timeline factors

Speed depends on shipping time to Ontario, parts availability, and fault complexity. Communication happens by email during Monday–Friday business hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern).
